The place has great potential but is in serious need of maintenance. It’s a beautiful house with stunning views, but the interior is deteriorating, and there doesn’t seem to be much effort to address the issues. The small café is also disappointing – the staff is both rude and slow. With some care and attention, this could easily become a fantastic Instagram-worthy spot, or even a perfect setting for an international film. However, it still needs significant work to get there.

One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to witness the diverse wildlife that calls Thangamale Sanctuary home. Commenced the 1 1/2hr trek from Adisham Bungalow gates. Took us over forest and pine wooded area, hilly and scenic. Returned to Haputale along the railway track.

Good visiting place for all. Historical high class residence that is well maintained for site seeing. Also have a little store that sell jams and other products produced using their ow fruits.

The walk took us roughly between 1 to 1.5 hours to traverse the sanctuary, during which we were treated to stunning vistas of lush greenery, vibrant flora, and the soothing sounds of nature. The peaceful ambiance of the sanctuary provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As we ventured deeper into the sanctuary, we stumbled upon the Adisham Bungalow, a place of historical significance and immense charm. The Adisham Bungalow is famous for its unique architecture and serene surroundings. This hidden gem in the heart of Thangamale Sanctuary is a testament to the region's rich history and offers a glimpse into a bygone era. Exploring the sanctuary and discovering the Adisham Bungalow was a delightful experience that allowed us to connect with nature and heritage, making our journey to Haputale truly memorable.

The most popular way to experience Thangamale is on foot. A 4.3-kilometer trail connects the Adisham Hall area with the Idalgashinna Railway Station, offering a gradual walk along ridges with rewarding vistas across the Uva Basin, tea plantations, and distant hills.

There is no formal entry gate or ticketing, and access is generally free, though visitors are advised to check local conditions before arrival.
