I was here about 12 years ago and the estate seems too dry with very less tea trees. And the explanation about virgin white tea was good for my clients since they never heard of that type of tea anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the guide who explained us told it’s a different tree we take virgin white tea. Then I ask isn’t that a tea tree, he said no it’s K11 tree. I really didn’t understand this. Even my clients. However, guide explained about making virgin white by virgin ladies, I don’t understand whether it is a joke or real and I’ve seen Fre ladies plucking tea leaves. Earlier, I remember they showed us how they pluck this tea leaves in to a ceramic bowl using a special scissor. But this time they didn’t show that. Anyway, the plantation visit was nice for my clients and had a fresh cup of tea and a piece of cake in a bungalow. Good experience for my clients. Tea factory also processing with old machines and thats nice for guests to know how was it working and used that technology aim that colonial period. They charge 1000 rupees per person for this guided tour in the plantation and the factory

What a great experience to visit this cozy Tea Estate located in a secluded area in Southern Sri Lanka., esp when you book a private tour which is less rushed. The very knowledgeable and charming guide walks you through the Estate and very well explains all of it to you. The cup if tea and chocolate cake on the veranda of the Owner's residence was highly appreciated. It rounds up with a visit of the factory and its old machineries and a souvenir shop where you receive a gift and can taste all their many teas. Higly enjoyable and recommended.

Having gone to a tea plantation in Nuwara Eliya, I wasn’t sure what else there was to learn. This was a wholly different experience however and Dudley’s tour was very knowledgeable and fun. His explanations covered the history and manufacture of tea, as well as vanilla, cinnamon, cashew nuts and more.

Great experience and learning about the whole cycle of tea production starring from growing and harvesting, a the way to sorting. We came quite early, and there weren't many other visitors, so had a small group of 5 people, with a really great guide - Dudley. He told us much more than just about tea - spice production, historical background, plantation history. Shop might be a bit overpriced, but works as a memento (around £5 for and average black or green tea). We were with a small kid and a pram, and this works well - short and sweet!

A very peaceful, scenic and informative place to visit. You can take a guided tour (650 LKR pp) of the tea estate where a very experience person will take you around the tea estate to explain the different variety of tea plants , plucking techniques, show other plants like pepper, coco etc. You have opportunity to visit a mini tea factory where you can go through and understand the entire tea making process. At the end of the tour you have taste more than 30+ varieties of taste and buy tea. The plantation had the unique white tea, which you can taste also, plus as part of tour you will get an opportunity to have tea with cake at the owners guest house (traditional house) within the plantation. We had pleasant sighting of many peacocks at the estate.
