A wonderful place to explore the rich history of Sri Lankan tea! The museum beautifully presents the story of how the tea industry started and developed over the years. They clearly explain the history of the factory and demonstrate the full tea leaves processing method, from plucking to the final product. It’s very educational and interesting. The ticket price is very reasonable – only 200 LKR for adults and 50 LKR for children. They also offer a complimentary cup of tea, which is a lovely experience after the tour. Both card and cash payments are accepted, which is very convenient. Free parking slots are available, making it easy to visit. If you are interested in buying premium quality tea and souvenirs, you can purchase them at reasonable prices. There is also a 35% discount on all products when you buy entrance tickets, which is a great deal! Highly recommended for tea lovers and anyone who wants to learn about Sri Lanka’s tea heritage. 🍃☕

We had a great experience at the Ceylon Tea Museum. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the short guided tour was clear, informative, and not too long. It was really interesting to see the old tea machinery and learn more about the history of tea in Sri Lanka. The museum is well maintained, and the small tea tasting at the end was a nice touch. The surrounding views are beautiful too, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Kandy and want to understand more about Ceylon tea.

Nice little museum with old machines and tea history display. The whole interior is made from wood, I loved it. You get a free tea sample but you can purchase the whole tasting set for just 1000 rupie. The white tea (silver tips) was incredibly good, the taste surprised me a lot. 👌

We visited the Ceylon Tea Museum near the Hantana hills in Kandy and had a really enjoyable experience. The museum is housed in a beautifully restored old tea factory and takes you through the rich history of Sri Lanka’s tea industry, showcasing vintage machinery, historical displays, and stories about tea pioneers like James Taylor and Thomas Lipton. Visitors can explore several floors with old tea-processing equipment, informative exhibits, and a small library that explains the journey of Ceylon tea from plantation to cup. One of the highlights is the top-floor tea café, where you can relax with a freshly brewed cup of Ceylon tea while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding hills and scenery. There’s also a small shop offering a good selection of high-quality Sri Lankan teas and souvenirs, perfect for taking home a taste of authentic Ceylon tea. The staff are helpful, the displays are well-organized, and the whole visit can take around 1–2 hours, making it a pleasant and informative stop for both tea lovers and families. Overall, it’s a must-visit place in Kandy for anyone interested in the history, culture, and flavors of Sri Lankan tea.

Visited the Tea Museum on a quiet morning. Was given a great explanation of the history of the museum and then left to explore on my own. It was low season and there were only two other people there. The museum tells the story of the tea manufacturing industry in a building which housed the factory 100 years ago; it was humble presentation of history and a nice stop away from the bustling centre of Kandy. Ticket price is 1000 Rupees which also gives you a free cup of tea on the top floor, and 10% off any purchases in the shop. Well worth a visit to explore the history of Ceylon Tea.
