Beautiful reservoir! Best thing here is you can even go on a boat ride. And the boatman charges you like 1000 rupees per hour. If you're going here by bus, you need to get down from dikoya and take a tuk. The tuk charges about 300 rupees. Would definitely come here again. Castlereigh during noon and Twilight are two different views, both equally stunning.

Can see a beautiful view of Castlereigh Reservoir from Hatton - Maskeliya road. There are several viewpoints on this route. Makesure not to throw away any litters around. Sadly around all the viewpoints lot of polytene have thrown away. Please dont spoil the nature. The images I have taken from two viewpoints. If you are planning to use a done take permission from relevant authorities.

CASTLEREAGH RESERVOIR The Castlereagh Reservoir is one of Sri Lanka’s best-kept secrets; hidden in a valley and circled by tall green peaks, the reservoir is perhaps the most idyllic location in the hill country. The reservoir also has an ‘airport’, since the drive to Hatton can be quite tedious, many people opt for taking a seaplane from Colombo which lands on the reservoir! A sight which would definitely excite anyone! A Hub for Fun-filled Activities Visiting the reservoir is a wonderful activity for anyone whether you’re travelling with your partner, family or a group of friends. There are a whole host of outdoor activities on offer in the area: you can canoe along the cool clear waters of the reservoir, you could cycle through the surrounding hills, or you could simply enjoy a picnic on the banks of the reservoir. Wonderful location. Really grate. Really green. Wonderful environment. One of the grate place for vacation. More relax mind when we enter this environment. One of the grate and eye catching romnce place ever visited. Around green tea estate and water streams made beauty for this location. Some places are around abandoned tea estate. The Castlereigh reservoir is an inland body of water fed with the inflow from Kehalgamu Oya and water is diverted to Wimalasurendra hydropower station.Locals fish here and the reservoir also functions as a water airport. A must visit when in hills.The views are out of this world and a boat ride here is one of the best experiences ever.
