Sorabora Wewa is located in Mahiyangana in Badulla district. It is believed that this was built by giant Bulatha during king Dutugemunu's reign. You can have a bath near the sorowwa but it can be really crowded during the weekends. Parking is available and you have to walk small distance on foot to get to the waterfall. There are lot of shops along the way, and you can buy various stuff. You can go on a boat ride if you are willing to pay some money. Please leave only footprints.

Unlike other ancient tanks, it does not use a *Bisokotuwa* (a traditional water-regulating mechanism). Instead, its sluice gate, strategically carved into natural rock away from the embankment, minimizes erosion and demonstrates a remarkable understanding of engineering principles. A 485-meter-long embankment dams the Diyawanna Oya, creating the vast reservoir with a capacity of 14.6 million cubic meters. Beyond its historical and technical importance, Sorabora Wewa is a scenic location.
