The place has great potential but is in serious need of maintenance. It’s a beautiful house with stunning views, but the interior is deteriorating, and there doesn’t seem to be much effort to address the issues. The small café is also disappointing – the staff is both rude and slow. With some care and attention, this could easily become a fantastic Instagram-worthy spot, or even a perfect setting for an international film. However, it still needs significant work to get there.

My recent visit to Thangamale Sanctuary in Haputale, Sri Lanka, left me utterly enchanted and rejuvenated. Nestled amidst the verdant hills of Sri Lanka's central highlands, this sanctuary is a true gem waiting to be explored. From the moment I stepped foot into the sanctuary, I was greeted by a sense of tranquility and serenity that instantly captivated my senses. The lush greenery, interspersed with vibrant bursts of flora and fauna, painted a mesmerizing picture of natural beauty at its finest. One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to witness the diverse wildlife that calls Thangamale Sanctuary home. From colorful bird species to elusive mammals, every corner of the sanctuary seemed to teem with life. It was a humbling experience to observe these majestic creatures thriving in their natural habitat. But perhaps the most awe-inspiring aspect of Thangamale Sanctuary is its stunning landscapes. As I ventured deeper into the sanctuary, I was rewarded with breathtaking vistas of rolling hills, cascading waterfalls, and mist-covered valleys. Each turn of the trail unveiled a new panorama more beautiful than the last, leaving me in a perpetual state of wonder and admiration. Furthermore, the sanctuary is impeccably maintained, with well-marked trails and facilities for visitors to enjoy. Whether you're an avid hiker, a nature enthusiast, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, Thangamale Sanctuary offers something for everyone. In conclusion, Thangamale Sanctuary is a true paradise for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Its unparalleled beauty, coupled with its rich biodiversity, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the wonders of Sri Lanka's highlands. I cannot recommend it highly enough and eagerly anticipate my next visit to this pristine sanctuary.

Commenced the 1 1/2hr trek from Adisham Bungalow gates. Took us over forest and pine wooded area, hilly and scenic. Returned to Haputale along the railway track.

Good visiting place for all. Historical high class residence that is well maintained for site seeing. Also have a little store that sell jams and other products produced using their ow fruits.

We accessed this sanctuary from the nearby train track, which is situated approximately 1.5 kilometers away from Idalgashinna to Haputale. The journey through the sanctuary was a memorable experience, as it allowed us to immerse ourselves in the breathtaking natural beauty of the region. The walk took us roughly between 1 to 1.5 hours to traverse the sanctuary, during which we were treated to stunning vistas of lush greenery, vibrant flora, and the soothing sounds of nature. The peaceful ambiance of the sanctuary provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As we ventured deeper into the sanctuary, we stumbled upon the Adisham Bungalow, a place of historical significance and immense charm. The Adisham Bungalow is famous for its unique architecture and serene surroundings. This hidden gem in the heart of Thangamale Sanctuary is a testament to the region's rich history and offers a glimpse into a bygone era. Exploring the sanctuary and discovering the Adisham Bungalow was a delightful experience that allowed us to connect with nature and heritage, making our journey to Haputale truly memorable.
